Get To Know Me
Hi, I'm Catherine Murden but my friends and family call me Katie! I am currently a Senior Marketing major with a concentration in Digital Marketing at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. I grew up in Suffolk, Virginia in a quaint house on the water, which is where my love for the sea and all things water originated. I attended Isle of Wight Academy, a small private school located in Smithfield, VA, where I gained knowledge from Pre-K to 12th grade. During my childhood I found a love for sports, more specifically cheerleading. I was a part of the middle school and high school cheer team and earned the honor of Varsity Captain my Senior year. My passion for the sport of cheerleading was found in competition cheer. The most rewarding part of this experience was being selected as a Junior Coach for the youth teams at my gym. I was thrilled to be accepted to James Madison University my senior year of high school. Scroll down to learn more about my love for JMU.
James Madison University
James Madison University has been so much more than just my college, it’s been my home, my community, and the place that’s shaped me in ways I never expected. The school spirit here is unreal, and being part of the Varsity Cheer team has let me experience it from the front row—literally. Cheering at championship games, traveling with my team, and feeling the energy of Bridgeforth on a game day is something I’ll never forget. Academically, being a Marketing major with a concentration in Digital Marketing has given me hands-on experience and opportunities that make me excited for the future. Studying abroad, getting involved in campus life, and meeting some of my best friends along the way have only made my time here even more unforgettable. JMU has given me some of the best years of my life. Once a Duke, always a Duke!

Luna is the oldest member of the four-legged crew. She was found on the side of the road at just 5 weeks of age.

Levi, the wild child, was the perfect addition. He loves to cuddle up, play, and keep his siblings in line. He was the perfect addition. I mean just look at his face!”
